Hold your breath as the anticipated trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati is out. Bhansali is known for his colourful and bold narration of epic stories. The director has painted lavish frames with his movies like Devdas, Ramleela and Bajirao Mastani throughout the years. With such a fantastic scale, the director has once more exhibited a visual work of art with Padmavati, apparent from the magnificence of the historic setting and choreographed fight scenes.

In Padmavati’s trailer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali paints upon an excellent canvas the tale of Padukone's character, the magnificent Rani Padmavati, her spouse Ratan Singh (Kapoor) and Singh's practically wild Alauddin Khilji. Padmavati rests on the narrative of Rani Padmini of Chittor, who was married to Ratan Singh.

Deepika, who features in the initial shot of the trailer does justice to her character and overflows appeal and imperial elegance. Kapoor looks ethereal as Ratan Singh while Singh, otherwise known as Sultan Alauddin Khilji, makes his outstanding entry with the utmost splendour. The trio has submerged themselves altogether in their characters in the upcoming cinematic work that has no shortage of stunning scenes.

The trailer opens on an excellent canvas exhibiting the tremendous territory of Chittor's fort. In an especially poignant scene, Deepika is seen sewing Shahid's turban while he rests his gaze on her. Ranveer appears a minute into the trailer and he is for the most part observed on the battleground. He is impeccable as the compulsive and driven intruder with his streaming tresses and blood-stained face.

Barely a line of dialogue is spoken in the trailer and oddly, it doesn’t need to be said. The visual splendour and dramatic imagery is enough to fully engross the audience. Ranveer Singh depicts his character here without articulating a solitary line of discourse. His laugh is fabulously detestable.

Deepika Padukone as always looks fierce, bold and radiant while Shahid Kapoor looks calm and composed throughout. Padukone and Singh have previously worked with Bhansali on Ramleela and Bajirao Mastani, both box office successes and odes to Bhansali’s talent as a cinematic director of the grandest scale.

In the hands of any other director, there would be a high chance that Padmavati might turn into a grossly grandiose show of violent colours and gaudy costumes. But in the hands of Bhansali, one can confidently contend that he knows how to handle such material with tact and good taste. However, we don’t know what to expect from the dance sequences in the film, a trait unlike trailers of Ramleela and Bajirao Mastani. This trailer focuses mostly on war scenes.

The shooting of the film saw a few barriers with a few organisations challenging Bhansali, under the suspicion that Khilji will be seen romancing Padmavati onscreen. As of late, folks from the Rajput community held a dissent against the film in Karnal (Haryana) requesting a prohibition on the film's screening in the state.

The trailer of this much anticipated film is restrained, the development is measured and the rhythm is steady. An unflinching Deepika, a royal Shahid and a savage Ranveer loan a dynamic quality to the inclination of the trailer and, with Bhansali’s talent, Padmavati is likely to see the same success as his previous films.

Padmavati is set to hit the screens on 1st December, 2017.
