Verna’s Cast: A visit to NUST

Islamabad: With the promotional events of the much awaited film Verna ongoing, the lead actors, Mahira Khan and Haroon Shahid, visited NUST to promote their upcoming film.
This interactive session was arranged by NUST Dramatics Club on Thursday. It was a part of promotional events for the film Verna, which is to be launched on 17th November nationwide.
The leading actors, Mahira Khan and Haroon Shahid, discussed their journey from their debut in the showbiz industry to accepting roles in Shoaib Mansoor’s subsequent big-time film.The cast said that it felt incredible to be a part of the film that focuses on women empowerment and, in addition, concentrates on some predominantly prevailing issues.

Mahira apologized for the unforeseen postponement as the session was scheduled to begin at 14:30. The cast however arrived around 17:30 owing to the traffic problems caused by the sit-in in Islamabad.
Mahira Khan was significantly touched when a girl from the audience yelled in excitement that she was prepared to wait for an additional two hours if she got the chance to meet the star face to face. Mahira ran up to the group of onlookers and embraced her.
The leading actress of Verna said that everything from her diligent work, all the people who brought her through this road and fortified her and her goals sums up her journey. She said that when expectations are huge, achieving your goal turns out to be simple.

Haroon Shahid additionally mentioned that this is not the first Shoaib Mansoor flick that he wanted to be in; he also wanted to play the lead role in the much-admired and critically acclaimed Bol.

The trailer was played and the Q&A session began after the interviews of the cast. Haroon Shahid welcomed audience members to sing along with him. A girl came up on stage to sing Shahid’s debut song Laung Gawacha with him. Mahira Khan also danced with the audience, even copying their steps, and appeared to have enjoyed it. Esha Ali, a student of NUST said, “I am not fond of Pakistani movies but I have already booked tickets for the movie Verna.”
In spite of the fact that the session ended well, many individuals were not satisfied because of the long wait for the cast to arrive. The coordinators of the session attempted to keep the group of onlookers engaged amid the three hour hold up by welcoming individuals from the gathering of people to showcase their abilities. However, many day scholars left due of the constraint of their van timings and many students remained dissatisfied. Alia Arshad, a student said, “It was very disappointing that we couldn’t meet the cast even after waiting for so long.”
