Directed by Amir Mohiuddin

Starring

Bilal Ashraf as Ali

Urwa Hocane as Reshmi

Gohar Rasheed as Waseem Wallay

With music as its focal theme, Rangreza additionally includes romance, action and comedy. The two minute trailer is filled with all the complex emotions of love, jealousy and hatred.

The trailer opens with Ashraf singing before a packed crowd. He belongs to a well-off family and falls for a young girl named Reshmi, played by Urwa Hocane. Rasheed, stars as a tabla player who has a very tangled temperament. The story revolves around these two artists while outlining a love triangle as the latter also falls in love with Reshmi.

The trailer itself heavily lacks tonal consistency and does become mildly jarring. But Ashraf and Hocane share good onscreen chemistry while Rasheed protrudes as a fierce antagonist. Hocane in particular appears particularly attractive, a compelling presence on the screen. What the film has in it for us is yet to be viewed. Gohar Rasheed, while seeming adequately mad throughout, sounds a bit ridiculous in his closing dialogue, trying too hard to be intimidating.

The film also includes Rasheed’s item number with 200 transgender people. A bit of it can be seen in the trailer too. While charm might not be its strong suit, it will hopefully be included in the movie with some tact and a bit of taste. All through the trailer, we see the scraps of the songs belonging to both modern pop and classical qawwali. Musicians associated with the film incorporate Abida Parveen, Asrar Shah and Qurram Hussain of music band Josh. And as it appears, the musical elements of the movie have been handled well.

The production team appears to have put in a considerable thought and effort to guarantee that the visuals satisfy the film's name. The sets and outfits utilized all through the trailer brag brilliant shades without making anything look excessively tawdry. By all appearances, it appears to be well suited to the title. Let’s hope the rest of it does as well too.

Rangreza is set to release on 21st December, 2017.
