After the Blockbuster film Janaan, IRK Films and Arif Lakhani Films in Association with ARY Films released the official trailer of film Parchi.

Parchi is an action-comedy movie which demonstrates the issue of extortion in a light-hearted way. The hues and humor in the movie are likewise reminiscent of director Azfar Jafri's film, Janaan.

The three-minute trailer features all the actors in their starring roles, with the female protagonist Hareem Farooq shown to have feelings for one of the boys she’s helping out. They’ve apparently stepped into a bit of a problem and need some money – urgently – after “borrowing” from some gangsters. What follows is Farooq stepping onto the scene to help these poor men. As is expected, shenanigans ensue.

Usman Mukhtar maintains his comic timing pitch-perfect during the trailer. Hareem Farooq in her hot-headed portrayal of Madam Sahab looks convincing, and actually appears to be an interesting character. Let’s hope they explore her emotional depth instead of making her a mere token female addition to the cast. Additionally, Ali Rehman Khan withdraws fundamentally from the carefree character he once played in Janaan, and puts on a significantly more serious demeanor, alongside his natural comic inclination.

There isn't substantially more to investigate in the trailer about the characters. It’s kind of expected the sort of film we’re getting here; some exaggerated comedy with themes of romance and brotherhood. I view it as a family friendly clean little version of Delhi Belly, which defies the whole point of that movie itself. For what it is though, it might not be all that bad. After all, Shafqat Cheema with his villainous bearing looks pretty interesting.

Also, how could we not discuss Billo Hai? It’s the song that’s figured out how to leave its stamp even in the confined little space of this trailer. Thanks to the team of Parchi, who additionally launched the song on the same day, we’ll be humming it for a while now.

There are lots of little jokes, important dialogue and dramatic scenes strewn across the trailer. Still we hope that the team of Parchi haven't put all their best jokes and one-liners in the trailer, and have refrained from giving too much away, as is often the case with trailers.

The film Parchi is all set to hit the cinemas on 5th January 2018.
