Vikram Bhatt is famous for making horror flicks, especially Raa' and the 1920 series. The director released the trailer for his upcoming flick titled 1921, almost a decade after the original, and it promises to be a spook fest.

Like every horror story, 1921's plot too begins with Ayush played by Karan Kundra who comes to England to pursue music until one night, everything changes after he starts encountering paranormal activity in his house. An apparition here, a ghost there and ta-da, you’ve got yourself a horror movie trailer! He contacts a mystic medium named Rose, played by Zareen Khan. As she takes up his case, the two come closer and develop feelings for each other.

The plots of horror stories are almost the exact same most of the time and 1921 additionally suffers from the same ‘seen before’ dilemma.

The trailer of 1921 seems to try to copy or at least appear reminiscent of a few Hollywood movies including The Conjuring, Annabelle, and even Vikram Bhatt's own particular and best one so far – Raaz. Zareen Khan does not come across as an exorcist however, lacking any persuasiveness. Whether she’ll be able to pull it off remains to be seen.

The tackiness and cheesiness that often plagues Indian horror films in terms of effects (I’m looking at you, Creature) will hopefully be absent from the movie. Is that asking for too much? It shouldn’t be.

This will be the first horror film for Zareen Khan while Karan Kundra has earlier worked with Vikram Bhatt in 2012 starrer Horror Story.

Written and directed by Vikram Bhatt, produced by Reliance Entertainment and Vikram Bhatt’s 1921 is all set to release on January 12, 2018.
