Tiger Zinda hai, the sequel of movie Ek Tha Tiger starring Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan has been refused the No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

Pakistan's Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National History refused the grant of the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the local distributor, Geo TV Network, for Tiger Zinda Hai on the recommendation of the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), thereby banning the movie in the country.

The chairman of the Central Board of Film Censor (CBFC) Mobasher Hasan said that Tiger Zinda Hai has been refused the NOC, citing the same reason as for Ek Tha Tiger, because the image of Pakistan and its law enforcement agencies has been compromised in the sequel also.

Previously in 2012, the movie Ek Tha Tiger was banned from screening in Pakistan. The movie faced a ban as the leading characters of the movie were playing Indian and Pakistani intelligence agents. Salman Khan played the role of Indian intelligence agency RAW’s agent, whereas Katrina played a Pakistani ISI agent in the movie.

The vice-chairman of the Central Board of Film Censors, Muhammed Ashraf Gondal said that the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer had bombed at Pakistan's security offices and was risky for open screening in Pakistan.

Regarding Agent Vinod, the Saif Ali Khan starrer that was banned in the same year, Mr. Gondal said, “We have strict criteria because of the films that have topics that touch on anti terrorism and are against Pakistan's national establishments or security offices at last must be controlled on the grounds that they are against national interest.”

Sulaiman S. Lalani, Executive Director Geo TV Network, said that, “Our preferred option was that Tiger Zinda Hai should have been allowed for import, presented to the censor board, and if any objectionable material was found against the interests of Pakistan only then the exhibition of the film shouldn't have been allowed.”

He further added that owing to Salman Khan’s fan following in Pakistan, there was a high level of interest in the movie here.

Pakistani censor board prohibited the film from releasing in the country, asserting that the movie portrayed a few scenes that were against Pakistan. Now fans should keep a watch out as to whether the film will be limited due to the boycott or will get a permit for its release.
